We Must Work Together to Reduce Domestic Violence Essay -- Violence Aga
Domestic violence is an act of crime which occurs in domestic household units. It is also known as as spousal abuse or family violence. Domestic violence is not only related to physical abuse but also emotional, sexual, financial, mental and verbal threats. According to ( Human Right Watch, 1995) cited from Macionis, John J., 2008. Domestic violence is defined as bodily harm, usually accompanied by verbal threats and harassment, emotional abuse or the destruction of property as means of coercion, control, revenge, or punishment on a person with whom the abuser is in intimate relationship. Besides that, according to an article by Womenââ¬â¢s Aid, the government defines violence as any incident of threatening behavior, violence or abuse (psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional) between adults who are or have been intimate partners or family members, regardless of gender or sexuality. Domestic violence can happen and may happen to any individual despite th eir gender, social class or status, life style, age, family background, race, ethnicity or place of living. Any individual can be a victim of domestic violence. Based on an article titled Physical Violence against Women the World Health Organization reported that 40 to 70 percent of women were murdered in the United States, Canada, Australia and Israel by their husbands or male partners. Domestic violence can be categorized into different categories. Firstly, is physical violence. Physical violence is physical abuse whereby the abuser will hit, kick, burn, punch, slap, smack and perform any action using body or objects that will hurt and bruise the victimââ¬â¢s physical health. An example of physical abuse is severe burns on the body due to cigarette burns. Secondly is emotional abuse. Emotional abuse is just opposite of physical abuse because the abuser will use harsh, vulgar and negative words to emotionally abuse the victim. The implication of verbal abuse such as yelling, isolation, name-calling and shaming also falls in the same category of emotional abuse. For example, shouting out vulgar words is a form of emotional abuse. Emotional abuse can cause severe depression and also lack of confidence. Besides that, it can also cause decrease of self worth and independence. Thirdly is financial abuse whereby the abuser will financially torture their victims who ar e usually their spouse or... ...d the news via online sources such as electronic mails (e-mail), facebook, twitter and etc. We can use these social webs to spread awareness regarding domestic violence and help public to prevent them from being a victim. The public must learn to speak up whenever they encounter domestic violence or abuse instead of keeping quiet and suffering. They should not hesitate and must be brave enough to lodge a complaint. As a conclusion, every individual must play their part in order to stop domestic violence from occurring or getting worse. Domestic violence will not only hurt and harm human beings but also affects the country and nation. We should be more cooperative and work together to overcome domestic violence and abuse. We must show more love for each other, be more concern, understand each other feelings and the rights of being a human being. Therefore, we must live together in happiness, peace and harmony. Deception in the Twelfth Night: William Shakespeare Essay
Deception is seen widely throughout the play Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare. Many characters are very clear about who they are and what their motives are, while some are more manipulative. Deception is shown through the clearness of Orsinoââ¬â¢s character and the way Viola (Cesario) deceives people to play a man. Orsino is a character in the Twelfth Night that is considered much understood. He is very upfront about his actions and motives. This is portrayed in the way that Orsino loves Olivia and the way he will do anything it takes to get her to be with him. He makes it very clear that there is only one thing that he wants: to be with Olivia. As Orsino states his love in the play, ââ¬Å"Oh, when mine eyes did see Olivia first, methought she purged the air of pestilence. That instant was I turned into a hart, and my desires, like fell and cruel hounds, eââ¬â¢er since pursue meâ⬠(1.1.20-24). He is very upfront about who he is; as the count, he is better than the people around him and gets what he wants. The way that Olivia thinks so highly of him as a Duke, demonstrates how he is better than the people around him: ââ¬Å"Yet I suppose him virtuous, know him noble, of great estate, of fresh and stainless youth. In voices well divulged, free, learned, and valiant; and in dimension and the shape of nature, a gracious personâ⬠(1.5.260-64). Orsino is a noteable character who is straightforward and determined to get what he wants. Viola (Cesario), on the other hand, is completely deceptive of who she is. Although she deceptively dresses as a man, Viola does it so that she can stay alive in Illyria. The Captain is the only one who really knows what Viola is doing. As the Captain says, ââ¬Å"Be you his eununch, and mute Iââ¬â¢ll be. When my tongue blabs, then let mine eyes not see,â⬠(1.3.65-66) which he also knows the reasons of doing. Throughout the entire play, Viola has to lie about who she is, but hints about her secret occasionally, like when she speaks with Orsino: ââ¬Å"I am all the daughters of my fatherââ¬â¢s house, and all the brothers, tooââ¬âand yet I know notâ⬠(2.4.132-33). Viola is a main example of a character that is deceptive by their appearance in the Twelfth Night. Deception is being deceived or mislead by false appearances or statements. There are different kinds of deception in the Twelfth Night, by appearance or by Shakespeareââ¬â¢s word choice. Deception by appearance is an easily seen trait throughout different characters in the play. Orsino is a great example of someone whoà is the opposite of deceptive, whereas Viola is one of the most deceptive by her appearance and can be seen throughout the play the Twelfth Night.

Five Most Important Events in U.S. History - 820 Words
First thing that I chose for my project is, 9/11. This was a dark time for all of America at the time. 9/11 took place November 11, 2001. It was organized by 19 al Qaeda terrorists. The terrorists hijacked 4 commercial planes. Two of the four headed to the World Trade Center while the third headed for the Pentagon. After learning the actions of the three planes, the fourth crash landed in an empty field somewhere in Western Pennsylvania. This is considered the largest number of fatalities that were caused by a foreign attack that happened on American soil which resulted in almost 3,000 deaths. When the people of America found out the events, millions went to help fight and protect against anymore attacks. Next I chose the Manhattan Project. The Manhattan project was a project that brought the world into the nuclear age/era. In the year 1939, we learned that German physicians had learned the secret to splitting the uranium atom. This was extraordinary. When Albert Einstein fled to Ame rica, he brought information about the Germanââ¬â¢s capability to create a bomb capable of mass-destruction. Einstein was accompanied by Erico Fermi, who escaped fascist Italy. The two thought they should tell President Roosevelt. They wrote a letter to him urge him to establish an atomic research project. Roosevelt agreed but didnââ¬â¢t want everyone to know about it. He called it the Manhattan Project. The main facility they built was in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Self-Reflection on Negotiation and Application to Daily...
Negotiation is an important activity in our lives. Knowingly and unknowingly, we negotiate almost every day with our friends, colleagues, family members and sometimes, even with ourselves. Academically negotiation is defined as a formal discussion between people who are trying to reach an agreement. We use negotiations to achieve our goals, realize our expectations, work out a compromise or simply avoid trouble with others. It is a process by which we try to resolve differences of opinion or conflicting interests. The module conducted on negotiation explained negotiation as a decision making or problem solving process that involved two or more parties who are in a state of conflict with each other, because of opposing interests, concerns,â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦It is essential to remember that the objective was simple and direct and had no clauses or assumptions attached, similar to the first part of the module. Reflecting back on the first part of the module, i.e. arm wrestling, being the stronger opponent I was able to attain higher points than my opponent demonstrating my power. Interestingly, even before the initiation of the exercise, my opponent was overwhelmed by a sense of domination. My assumption about my power was incorrectly perceived by my opponent as the objective of the exercise clearly stated that the most number of points had to be achieved without mentioning any confines of a competition. My opponent failed to understand and kept on resisting as a result, further force had to be applied in order for me to attain the desired objective. I was willing negotiate with my opponent, however, realized that the stereotype commonly attached to the word ââ¬Ëarm wrestlingââ¬â¢ such as strength and competition makes it a harder negotiating arena. What I learnt through the first part of the module was that even though I was willing and able to think out of the box, in order to atta in the objective, other parties involved in the process needed to clarify their positions and assumptions prior to the negotiation process. The absence of verbal communication multiplied the issues and was one of the predominant factors or lack thereof in the failure of the objective. Ladushki. Encyclopedia of childrens folklore Review Essay Example
Ladushki. Encyclopedia of childrens folklore Review Paper Essay on Ladushki. Encyclopedia of childrens folklore Books for children are now a lot its a fact. But when it is your child you need to buy a book, then the problems begin. From a large variety of books is no longer half of illustrations, because it is not always clear who is in the picture the donkey or rabbit (sometimes the whole family has to solve such intricate illustration here). Another part is no longer due to the actual text of the verses slowly crawl from book to book, and repeated often. And sometimes it seems that publishers do not have any idea that they make for kids. After reading these masterpieces most want to throw at someone, that talk about the baby. But Im not about The book Ladushki. this is something that will please both baby and adult, and will serve you, and when the baby gets older, for several reasons. Usually, after reading that book it is called up holes nursery rhymes or jokes, we put it as unnecessary: ââ¬â¹Ã¢â¬â¹all the child grew up. With the Okay failed to do so. The book contains not only a large number of well-known to us from childhood jokes jokes of the Geese, geese! ! Ha-ha-ha or Bayu bye, bye bye à », but also many that me and most it was interesting to read. In addition, there gathered a large collection of thematic texts on the seasons, animals, for example. But the most remarkable thing in the book its design! Its just a miracle something! This and reproductions of paintings by famous artists (from Shishkin to Kuindzhi from Perov to Kustodiev) on each page telling about life, about the nature of Russian. Whole pages are devoted to animals, birds, insects, plants Russia, what looked like a peasant hut, for exa mple, manor, chapel, village school, in which children played, etc. I, frankly, she has learned a lot the first time. Never, for example, did not see, it looked like pawns. In short, in my opinion, it is such a book a perfect reading for children. If kids will read such books are wonderful people grow exactly.
